Natural Skincare Trends in 2024, 2025 and Beyond

People are increasingly becoming obsessed with natural, organic products which are less harmful than chemicals. Moreover, since ‘natural’ refers to being close to nature, the word is taking the beauty industry by storm as more and more people are becoming eco-conscious.

There is no strict legislation around the word natural, and you can create your formulations by establishing your criteria of what constitutes natural. In this article, we have discussed some key natural skincare trends that you might have been seeing in 2022 or will dominate the beauty scene in 2023.

What is Natural Skincare?

The word “natural”, when understood in terms of an ingredient, refers to being derived from nature and preserved as close to its natural form as possible. A natural cosmetic formulation then would come from natural resources such as plants, minerals, or animals.

If you are thinking of creating a natural private label, here are some of the labels which are associated with the term “natural”.

Organic: If your cosmetic formulations derive all of your ingredients from organic sources, you can call your private label organic. Organic products are usually non-toxic, free of sulfates, and cruelty-free.

Clean and Green: If you intend to limit environmental impact and champion sustainability, then you are focusing on being green. Clean refers to being non-toxic. As a clean and green private label, you might try to use recycled packaging, go cruelty-free, or use natural energy sources.

Cruelty-free and Vegan: Cruelty-free means avoiding any form of animal cruelty while manufacturing a product, and vegan refers to cosmetic formulations without any animal by-products.

Fairtrade: if you focus on ethically-sourced ingredients, a process that does not harm people or the environment, you believe in fair trade.

Here are some of the latest natural beauty trends that have taken the beauty world by storm. Whether you have opted to create your skincare label using organic ingredients or by being vegan and cruelty-free, these trends will help you decide what are some of the natural trends and how you can incorporate them into your private label.

Reduced product waste

As consumers are getting increasingly eco-conscious, many skincare brands are trying to create reusable or minimalist packaging to reduce product waste. You can reduce waste by creating concentrated anhydrous products, which goes a long way. You can also opt for glass or aluminum packaging as these are reusable. Water-soluble plastics and other biodegradable materials can also be used for packaging.

You can find an anti-aging cosmetic product in every bathroom. It is no secret that people from ancient times until today have always been keen on stopping or reversing the effects of time. However, what does the modern-day world have to offer that is useful for aging skin to combat the effects of growing old? Plenty. In fact, there is so much research on the benefits of various ingredients, that it becomes quite confusing. Acids, ceramides, vitamins, oils… making an informed choice can become difficult when there is so much variety on the market.

In Made by Nature Labs, we stand for all-natural ingredients with proven benefits for every skin type out there. We have prepared for you a list of our 3 best time-fighting superheroes.

  1. SPF

You may be surprised that the list starts with 0 but let us explain. In healthcare, in skincare, in every kind of care, there is no better strategy than prevention. The skin is the largest organ in the human body. It shields all other organs and body parts from environmental influences. The skin protects us and we should properly protect it too. Thankfully, cosmetic companies, big and small, have all realized the importance of sun protection and are implementing sun protection factors in various products for daily use – skin moisturizers, foundations, serums. It is easier than ever to implement protection from the harmful UV rays in your daily skincare routine.

  1. Pomegranate

There are tons of research and scientific studies carried out on the benefits of pomegranate in the past 20 years. According to all results, pomegranate really is a superfood. One of the studies published in the scientific journal Nature Medicine claims that this red juicy fruit can be the key to fighting aging effectively. Let us explain how it works.

Back in high school, in biology classes, we learned about the cell’s powerhouse – the mitochondria. Its main role, as you know, is energy production. When these tiny cell parts get old they become less and less efficient in their role so the cell needs to recycle them into new ones. This process is called mitophagy. While we are young this mitophagy is quicker but as we grow old, the process becomes sluggish and the cells can’t catch up with replacing the dying mitochondria fast enough which leads to muscle weakness. This is where pomegranate comes in handy. The fruit contains molecules that stimulate the mitophagy process leading to speedier mitochondria recycling. Which, simply put, means faster cell regeneration.

Aside from that neat superpower, pomegranate is rich in Vitamin C and punicic acid. Vitamin C is a powerful ally in the fight for hydration, detox, and skin firmness, while punicic acid is an Omega-5 fatty acid that helps skin hold on to collagen. The antioxidants in pomegranate provide natural UV protection, which makes it easier for your skin to withstand sun damage.

All in all, pomegranate deservedly takes the title of “anti-aging superhero”.

  1. Matcha Green tea

What makes matcha different than regular green tea? The special way of growing it. According to tradition, green tea should be protected from direct sunlight for 30 days before harvesting to boost chlorophyll levels and the production of amino acids. That’s what gives it the vivid green color. After harvesting, green tea leaves are dried and powdered resulting in matcha – green tea on steroids.

Matcha has both protective and corrective properties and can be found in a wide variety of skincare products – serums, moisturizers, masks.

Let’s see how it works. Free radicals are enemy No. 1 of the skin. Free radicals are molecules attacking healthy skin molecules. We won’t bore you with the science behind it, but we will tell you what’s the source of free radicals – the sun, smog, cigarette smoke, pollution, dust. All those things we can’t avoid 100% percent in our daily life no matter how healthy we live. The effects of free radicals on the skin are all unwanted – brown spots, unevenness, wrinkles, broken blood vessels, discoloration, loose skin. Fortunately, there is a solution to preserve skin. Matcha is one of the answers to the problem of free radicals. Polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants, have been proved to successfully protect against UV rays and environmental pollution. You guessed it right – matcha green tea is packed with polyphenols.

What are the positive effects of matcha green tea on the skin?

– first, it has soothing properties which are great for sensitive or irritated skin.

– then it helps slow down aging due to its free radical-fighting properties.

– it helps regulate the excessive production of sebum. Combined with the anti-inflammatory properties the herb poses, it can be used to successfully manage acne-prone skin.

And if all of that hasn’t convinced you yet, let us add our last piece of information – there are no known side effects of green tea used in skincare.

  1. Rosehip oil

Unlike regular rose oil which is derived from rose petals, rosehip oil is pressed from the seeds and fruit of the rosa canina rose bush. Even ancient Egyptians knew that rosehip oil is rich in antioxidants and fatty acids and can be a game-changer in anti-aging and overall skincare. It was all the rage among Pharaoh’s wives. And the future Queen of the United Kingdom – Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge swears by it. So, what’s all the fuzz about?

First of all, rosehip oil contains Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, and vitamins C, E and A. What does mean when it comes to skincare?

vitamin C brightens skin and reduces pigmentation.

vitamin E is good for hydrating and calming dry and sensitive skin.

vitamin A also aids the improvement of skin tone and texture and helps with hydration.

– the Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids are proven to help skin regeneration and boost collagen retention resulting in younger-looking, more elastic skin.

With such a formula, it is no wonder that rosehip oil should become an essential ingredient in every self-respecting skincare product line.
